From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in strength within the urban setting.
Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of the new season lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The latest chapter concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the initial group of characters who will branch out from the main group to embark on their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might look unsuited, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the team understands precisely where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking the character, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.
The traitor then settled his debts and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, seeks vengeance.
- The adventurer has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a nasty place.
- The warrior and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the party reach places they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are sought by the rulers that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The rogue and The character are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This results in them no alternative but to journey toward the remote area in quest for the traitor.
Future Episodes
Based on episode three’s follow-up content, we discover that the warrior group will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight cast members to round up the Questers and Schemers parties.
Viewers can expect finding out which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the story’s last Overture episode, streaming live on next week.
